It almost brings me to tears when someone calls Tori's music MUZAK, what heartless, mindless people are being massproduced now-a-days... Listen to ANY of Tori's songs, even her covers aren't MUZAK, 1000 Oceans, Me and a Gun, Icicle, Silent all these years... uhg. All her music is far from MUZAK, even though I don't like most of her Y Kant Tori Read album, it's still far from MUZAK. :\

Why should we use Jesus' suffering as our spiritual paradigm? why not the beauty of his teachings? why not the affirmation, compassion, sacred union? Tori helps us remember the ways Religion, Jesus' teachings have been used to control us.

I don't think these lyrics are in bad taste, though they are certainly provocative. She is certainly anything other than Christian (as far as orthodoxy is concerned), and is pretty anti-organized-religion in general. If that makes her too of much a blasphemer for you ... why comment? Just to condemn?

This may be the case, and she may even know more about the bible than I do. But songs with the line, "How has your Jesus Christ been hanging?" seem to mock Jesus to me. These lyrics are in extremely bad taste.
